Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand up paddle boarding Cardigan

Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) or Just Paddle boarding for those who wish to sit or kneel.

New for 2023 Super SUP and Monster SUP great for families and friends to have a blast together. These are a great option for those who are stuck on ideas for birthday parties.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding is a sport originating in Hawaii as an off-shoot of surfing. They enable surfers to paddle further into the ocean than is typical or to paddle standing up as a sport unto itself. You can even teach Yoga on a Board!!

Your lesson fee includes hire of the board, leash and wetsuit and instruction from a trained coach.

By the end of the session you will be able to stand and turn your board, staying dry is sometimes optional. Although most people wish to stand up its not necessary and we have lots of people who are just after learning how to control the craft and are happy to stay low and enjoy the piece on the river.

Where do we offer sessions?

A few options are available:

We offer a session based in Cardigan from our office where we start on the safe slow moving section of river to bring you up to speed. Then depending upon conditions we head down river towards the sea and back. This directions goes past the moored boats in St Dogmaels and under the historic road bridge next to Cardigan castle.

Another option is to have a more leisurely trip from higher up the river down though the Teifi gorge. On this trip it's great to relax and immerse your self in nature taking in the sights, spotting wildlife along with playing on and off the boards.

We do head on the sea with the boards at various locations but this is on request. We do not pre-program these due to the sea conditions changing.

Can we do the Activity in the rain?

Yes - Stand up paddle boarding can be done in the rain.

What happens the river levels get really high?

If we have a lot of rain and the river levels increase and we feel it would make the session not very good or unsafe we will make an alternative plan, like using the sea or a different craft like a raft. But the location we use for the session can take a lot of water with little difference.

Can we change our Activities?

Yes, you would just need to let us know in advance, and the more notice you give us the more flexible we can be.

Can I wear contact lenses or glasses?

Yes: people do where contact lenses and say its ok but I don't where them so just go on others word. Glasses can be worn but its best to have a leash attached. If they fall off or get broken we can not be held responsible. If they are important to your driving think wisely before taking on session.

What group sizes can you accommodate?

Do we need to be able to swim?

No it is unnecessary we provide you with enough floating kit that all you need to do is move your arms to move around.

Yes - we have a wide range of sizes in all of our equipment. Before you head out on your activities our Instructors will ensure that all equipment fits correctly and they'll make any necessary changes.
